Teenage Kicks

I'm going to see a new sit com get filmed next weekend (24th)

TEENAGE KICKS is a brand new sitcom by Adrian Edmondson & Nigel Smith. Vernon (Adrian Edmondson) moves in with his teenage kids after a spectacularly nasty divorce. He's genuinely excited about living in their student flat. A rebel in his youth (or so he thinks), it's his chance to be young again. Naturally, his kids are bloody mortified. Vernon has spent the last two decades living off his high-flying wife - mostly in a comfy pub in comfy Godalming. Now he's back in the 'real' world: free, no ties, no responsibilities. OK, he's unemployable, impoverished and alone, but that's only the downside. At least now he can rekindle the embers of his glorious youth and be as hedonistic, as irresponsible and as selfish and idle as his kids. Vernon's only refuge from his nagging children is the pub where he meets his oldest mate Bryan (Ben Elton), now a reasonably content, slightly smug, primary school deputy head whose 'sorted' life is in direct contrast with Vernon's. However, neither is quite sure who's getting the best deal. At heart it's a family sitcom, but the normal family structure has been turned upside down: here the young kids can't get rid of their stupidly rebellious father.

Should be good. My work friend Radhika's never heard of Adrian Edmondson, Nigel Smith, Rik Mayall or Ben Elton. She's not even heard of the Glastonbury festival. She's 21 in a few weeks but surely someone that young can't be that different from a sprightly young chap such as myself (Age 27 1/2) ...
