Is Battlestar Galactica racist?

I've just finished watching the first series of Battlestar Galactica and have noticed a distinct lack of key protagonist black characters. Very odd. There are black cast members but they have very small parts or are simply there to make up the numbers.

Ignoring that though the show is pretty good and has kept me entertained for the last couple of weeks. Roll o n the next series.
