3 strikes and you're out

I've been off work for over two months now but things have been picking up over the past couple of weeks.  In fact I was at the final stage of 3 roles, this morning I found out that that I didn't get any of them the last of which was my preference.  2 were apparently very close and a third was given to someone for £300/d cheaper!  Now back to the drawing board.

Lovely walk

I took 91 year old 'Italian' Dave (a local from the pub) for his hospital appointment yesterday and took went for a lovely walk around the grounds.

Panini

I had some ciabattas left over from the bbq on Sunday so made some paninis in the breville.

Sir Quacksalot has arrived

I saw this on etsy and had to buy it as it made me chuckle out loud.  Now to convince one of my group to paint him.  I've already convinced my GM to introduce him to our campaign as an NPC.

Blog update

Quite an uptick in number of blog posts over the past few years, and not far off a rather large milestone of page views!  Those bots must really like my content.

Swim record

I beat my 400m and 500m swim times this morning.  I went swimming 4 times last week but posted pretty poor times.  That's because i've got a sore shoulder and have only been swimming breadth stroke.  This morning I went back to front crawl and beat 2 records.

400m 7:56 beating the previous record set 2 weeks ago by 13 seconds.

500m 9:56 beating the previous record set 3 weeks ago by 4 seconds.

I still have a sore shoulder.

Height update

Bother kids are still tracking well above average.  Arthur has grown 3.5 cm since November 4.5 since September), Flo 3 cm since September.

First BBQ of the year

I went to my first South African Braai on Saturday.  As far as I can tell it's just a bbq said in an amusing South African accent.  Inspired by this we had a couple of families over on Sunday evening for a bbq of our own.  Other than cooking the food.  We didn't stay out long.  Bloody freezing.  A little too optimistic.

Saturday night

Steve, one of April's old band mates turned 70 on Saturday so held a party in his local pub over in West London.  Most of the old band mates from all of the bands he's played with over the past 50 years tuned up and had mini sets.  April even got up for a sing along too.

My own Katsu curry

I made my first chicken katsu curry on Saturday.  Not from scratch, but I think it was a good representation of what I used to enjoy in the city in the Japanese Canteen chain.  There's a place on Tonbridge High Street that does a very good version too.

Curry sauce

Shop bought breaded chicken

With my home made pickled ginger

Lot's of work to do it all from scratch so I think this is much better use of my time.

Brain freeze faces

We went for a Chinese on Friday night after school.  The owner who we've known for 17 years always gives the kids ice cream at the end.
