Soft play on Sunday. Yeah!

There was a joint birthday party on Sunday for a couple of Flo's classmates, they'd had a couple of call offs due to sickness so they invited Arthur too.  It was my turn to take them but because Arthur was there too I had to stay (a bit too young to be left on his own).  The other dads that were there popped to the pub for the first hour.  Bastards!  The kids had a great time though.

Another bloody bear

Flo's got some ted from her stage school home for two weeks. Now we (April) has to help her write about it in a book before we hand it back. Urgh.

Pearly kings and queens

I was in town on Friday making up my 50% in the office quota.  The city was quiet but Leadenhall market was busy.  Here's some cockney knees up singing from some pearly kings and queens.  Horrific.

30 hours

Door to door it took about 30 hours to get to our apartment after leaving our house. Arthur was only sick 6 times. Twice in April! Urgh.

Monday blues

We had friends over on Sunday and April made a Lasagne.  It was lovely but unfortunately I was suffering from a bout of suspected food poisoning!  Not from my birthday meal I might add!  Mostly better today thankfully.

Too much booze

4 of us headed down to visit a friend in Eastbourne on Saturday.  I had far too much booze and was very ill on Sunday.  I even had to get the train home as didn't want to risk being sick in my friend's car.  Oh dear, i'm nearly 43 for fucks sake

All the meats

Sunday was a quiet one, we went for a Sunday roast in the pub 2 mins walk from our holiday house.  Shaheen and I had the 'mega' roast.  Pork, lamb, beef and a side of half a chicken!  Too much meat!

Yesterday morning I woke up to this

We put our paper and cardboard recycling out for collection the next day on Wednesday night.  The storm blew all of the old green party leaflets all over the street.  I had to go and collect them all up for taking the kids to the nursery.  Urgh.  Just what I wanted to do.

3 interviews

My current contract may only have 5 days left but i've now got 3 interviews lined up.  One is this afternoon, another on Monday and the third has yet to be finalised will be next week too.

All are a little different but hopefully i'll get one of them.

I'm not a massive fan of interviews (I had one last week which i've not heard back from yet) but they are a necessary evil to get work.  Being a contractor I will have to get used to it as rather than every 4-5 years they're now every 6 months and more of them.  Urgh.

Really bored today

Half an hour into my working day and I am completely bored.  I've been working on a project for over a month and can see that it's nearly done but just can't seem to garner enough energy to push it over the line.  I've got a meeting with my boss to discuss next steps at 12 today so hopefully that will give me some fresh impetus.

I think the main problem is that the piece of work doesn't have to be submitted till March / April next year (i'm only contracted till mid Jan) so seems a little overly cautious.  I prefer to live life to the extreme...

One bit of good news is that another piece of work that i've been working on was signed off yesterday and that's over a week early before it needs to get submitted to Lloyd's.

Once this piece of work is finished hopefully I can get a few smaller tasks with tighter deadlines.  That's where I work best and hopefully it will get me more interested again.  2 months and 2 days before my contract ends.

Here we go again

Tonbridge Racecourse has flooded again.  Last year it was flooded from December to April.  Let's hope it doesn't take as long to drain away this time.

Urgh, the joy of owning a dog

The cleaners are about to arrive so when they do the kitchen I usually take Arwen up to the back garden to keep her out of their way.

Now that she's old enough to go for a walk I can take her a bit further.  I don't think she's going to like this.

I've got a nice waterproof coat that April bought for my birthday and have some new waterproof walking trainers, i'm still waiting on my new over trousers to complete the look.

Will it ever end?

No.

We have the final stage of the decorating project (started back in March) finishing today.  This is the friend of the carpet guy who's filling and painting the holes in the ceiling on our landings where the carpet fitters were too rigorous with their fitting and popped all the newly fitted plaster board around the screws that were used to fix them to the ceiling.

He's just knocked on the kitchen door to tell us that he's peeled back the masking tape and some of the paint from the newly painted walls has peeled off with it.  Urgh!  Luckily we have some paint left over somewhere so he's going to touch that up too.

Bloody hot today

BBC weather thinks Tonbridge will hit 34 degrees C.  Urgh.  The house keeps fairly cool but i'm currently in a small office with a laptop and a large PC whirling away.  The worst is bed time, i'm currently in one of the top rooms whilst Arthur is in with April and it gets the sun all day.  Flo's room is at the top of the house but at the back and that was 26.5 C last night.  If I didn't have that fan I would get absolutely no sleep.

Tomorrow we've got a surprise 40th birthday for a friend, it's going to be an outdoor party by the rugby pitches. Urgh.  At least it's only going to be 32 C...

Ikea face

April dragged me kicking and screaming to Ikea yesterday.

I vow to never go again!

We're moving Florence's bedroom to the top back room (April's old office) to make room for the new arrival in June (ish) and need to get her some new furniture.  April had pretty much decided what to get her anyway but wanted Flo to have a look for herself.

We're going to be ordering all of it online so at least I didn't have to walk around the warehouse section but we did buy a couple of things.  Florence got a new blanket and a new fleece rug.  April got a long shoe horn (she's struggling putting on her shoes at the minute) and I bought a mini cactus.

Missed the charity shield on Sunday

As I had to go to a friend's daughter's 3rd birthday party.  It was meant to be a really good game.  Urgh.

Saying that it wasn't that bad, there was a bouncy castle and plenty of booze.

Not a minutes peace

Now that Florence is crawling all over the place and constantly wanting to stand I get absolutely no peace and quiet (hence not many blog posts recently).  I sit down on the sofa for 5 minutes and she wants to get up there too.  Urgh, it's bloody hard work.

2nd night out in Chicago

We went to Q Chicago on Friday night

https://chicagoqrestaurant.com/

Aparently the head chef used to be Oprah's personal chef a few years back.  Decent barbecue food but far too much food!

A bit blury
Before the carnage
Irish bar afterwards, Kris seems to be having fun, maybe it was his round.

After that we went back home to relieve the baby sitter.  Myself and Kris popped into another Irish bar for an extra few.  I really wish I didn't.

I didn't leave the house the next day.  Must be something I ate, urgh.

Breakfast of kings

They do do breakfasts well here.  And when I say well I mean a shit load of food.  Half as much would have been plenty.

Here's the menu of Yolk, a place in the building next to our apartment.  This is only side one.

Nutella crepes for me, red velvet french toast for April

Florence like it too.

Whilst Florence is asleep

Daddy has some breakfast...

Carrot cake pancakes.  Urgh.
